2019 harvest

2019 will be yet another surprising harvest, similar to what we’ve been experiencing over the last ten years! The start of the growing year was chaotic and diffi cult, with a few spring frosts followed by an acute lack of water and periods of scorching heat in June and July that left us fearing the worst. But August and September were more favourable towards the maturing process, with cool nights, cloud cover and mild daytime temperatures. We were fi nally able to anticipate the harvest for early September, but it came earlier than expected: we started picking in our Montagne de Reims vineyards on Friday 6 September, around 10 days earlier than we had envisaged in mid-August!

The team considers it to be a high-quality harvest. The grapes were healthy and were picked in ideal conditions. Once again, ripeness levels were exceptional. Our tastings at the presses suggest that the wines will be excellent, with rich aromas, once the fermentation processes have come to an end. For the second year running, the harvest was bigger than expected. Not as big as last year, which was extraordinary from that point of view, but big enough for us, the winegrowers. In short, everything suggests that we’re heading for a great vintage this year.
