Nelly Cattier : 20 years already
As we are nearing Mother's Day and on behalf of my brother Jean Louis, my sister Liliane and me, I would like to remind the memory of our mother Nelly Cattier, who passed away in spring 1996, already 20 years ago, to all the people who knew her.
This 20th anniversary is the occasion to pay homage to her again. We can't dissociate Jean and Nelly Cattier from the development of Champagne Cattier as their common work has been essential. Although they got married in 1936, this is only after the second world war that they could develop ambitions for their family and company. Nelly had a considerable position in the House, being the soul of this dynamism and dedicating all her life to it. Beyond the 3 children she raised and her work at home, she took full responsibility for administrative, financial and commercial side of the company and made of Champagne Cattier in the 50s and 60s the most important wine grower champagne and the first one to sell more than 100.000 bottles of Champagne annually. She welcomed in her office thousands of customers with a smile and a lovely sense of hospitality during her career. Some people are still speaking to us about it today. Two days before her sudden death, she was still at the office to make sure everything was fine.
This is a great lady of Champagne who left us 20 years ago. One of our loyal customers and friends paid her this beautiful tribute at that time : this is with a deep sorrow that I learned about the death of Madame Cattier. I'm really touched as I'm writing you now as this is a great lady who passed away. Let me tell you that each bubble of champagne Cattier will always bear her spark like all the stars of our firmament. Sincere condolences. Francis Faure, Lyon.
20 years later, this poetic thought remains more than present.
